Mental Health Assessment and Diagnostic Services
Our clinical staff are trained and professionally licensed to provide a full of range mental health services to individual clients and their families.
A comprehensive mental health assessment is the foundation of all quality mental health services. It is used to determine the needs and appropriateness for behavioral health treatment. The assessment includes an individual’s life history (mental health and substance abuse/dependence symptoms and treatment, family history and social history), presenting concerns (onset, frequency, duration and severity of current symptoms), co-occurring symptoms (including physical health conditions), mental status, diagnostic assessment strengths, stressors and support system.
The initial process typically takes one-and-a-half to two hours. It is the role of licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, counselors, social workers, and registered nurses to complete assessments. The information obtained from assessments is used to determine appropriate levels of service and the types of treatment and are an ongoing part of an individual’s behavioral health care.
Assessments are also used in the collaborative development of a personalized (individualized) course of treatment (treatment plan) between the individual seeking services and the provider of service. The treatment plan is the working document that will outline and guide the course (or plan) of treatment.
